BMW 3rd series can be equipped by automatic transmission (АТ). In process трогания from place АТ carries out function of ordinary coupling, and during movement performs work on a gear change.

The basic knots АТ are: the twisting moment converter, a planetary reducer and a hydraulic or electronic control system. To transition to another transfer the relation in a planetary reducer are applied гидроприводные disk brakes and disk coupling.
The twisting moment converter on the functions corresponds to hydraulic coupling. Its problem includes coupling realisation at трогании about places and a gear change without mechanical influence.

Steptronic – automatics of step-by-step switching

The 5-step automatic transmission near to a path of automatic switching has a short side scene with step-by-step switching. Such switchings are accepted in motorcycle sport.

In system Steptronic the driver can switch transfers at will upwards or downwards. In comparison with manual switching system Steptronic considerably more комфортабельна also is protected from management errors. At occurrence of malfunctions with entrance signals or with electromagnetic valves switching on the emergency program of work is made.
