The lock of ignition and engine start


0 Wheel is blocked

The key can be inserted into the lock or is taken from it only in this position.

Having taken out a key, slightly shake a steering wheel that it was latched on the lock.

Cars with АТ:
transfer of a control lever from position Р is supposed only at the working engine (the ignition key in position 2).

Before return of a key to position 0 or its extraction from the lock translate control lever АТ in River position

1 Wheel is unblocked


Turn of a key from position 0 in position 1 is frequently facilitated by easy rocking of a steering wheel.

Some consumers of a current are in working readiness.

2 Ignition is included / for BMW 320d: preheat


All consumers of a current are in working readiness.

3 Inclusion of a starter


Engine start

Before start


- Tighten a lay brake
- Establish a control lever a transmission in neutral position, and in the presence of АТ - in position Р or N.
- At low temperature of external air squeeze out and keep pressed a coupling pedal.

Never suppose engine works in the closed premises. In the fulfilled gases contains colourless and not having a smell, but very poisonous окись carbon. Inhalation of exhaust gases is unhealthy and can cause loss of consciousness and lead to a deadly outcome.

As the car is a potential source of danger, never leave it with working engine without supervision.

Cars with the petrol engine


Without pressing an accelerator pedal, start the engine

It is not necessary to be limited to too short-term inclusion of a starter, but also it is impossible to hold its 20 seconds included longer. As soon as the engine

Do not warm up the engine idling, and at once begin movement at moderate turns.

If the engine (cold or перегретый) is not got from the first, at repeated attempt of start:

Hold a pedal of an accelerator pressed approximately to half of its course

Start of the cold engine at low temperatures (more low-15S) and at the big heights (more than 1000 m above sea level):

At the first attempt to get the engine hold a starter included slightly longer usual (about 10 seconds)

Accelerator pedal hold pressed approximately to half of its course.

If you have to get often the engine at low temperatures and at the big heights replace oil in the engine with oil of viscosity 5W (address to section Replacement of impellent oil and the oil filter).

Cars with the diesel engine


At the cold engine:


The ignition key should be in position 2 until the control lamp of preheat will go out

Start the engine.

At the lowest temperatures of external air the starter can be held included to 40 seconds

At the heated-up engine:


If the control lamp of preheat does not burn, at once get the engine

Pressing of a pedal of an accelerator does not influence process of start of the engine.

Do not warm up the engine idling, and at once begin movement at moderate turns.

Removal of air from the power supply system of the diesel engine: if the fuel tank is empty, as a rule, removals of air from the power supply system it is not required.

If nevertheless at engine start there will be problems:

Hold a starter included during approximately 20 seconds.

Engine stop


To muffle the engine, turn a key in position 1 or 0.

Never take out a key from the lock on the move the car. Otherwise at steering wheel turn the lock of a shaft of a steering column will be blocked.

Leaving the car, always take out a key from the lock of ignition and lock the lock of a shaft of a steering column.

Cars with manual transmission:
at a parking on roads with a strong bias tighten a lay brake as inclusion of the first transfer or backing transfer under certain circumstances appears insufficient to prevent spontaneous трогание the car from a place.
